Things are really on fire here! Literally. There was a small incident in J's bathroom, but with her mad firewoman skills she was able to defeat the flames and our house did not burn down! We are really thankful. I have some great video footage of this that I would love to show you all someday. He continues to show us that He is a consuming fire. We had a great time cleaning the mess up and we might really become firewomen...I mean we tried to figure out how it all happened and everything, it was a task. But we are alive adn well and being taken care of! Oh but guess what...we did not have any water when the fire was flaming, but thankfully the one of the buckets we fill up for emergency baths just happened to be halfway full and took care of the problem!  Posted by Picasa

Extreme Superhero Powers

So the flyswater was definitely an awesome gift. J got it for me and well I put it to great use in our house...I think I brought down 26 flys in this single session of fly swatting! It was fun...I was looking for a really good superhero name but somehow Fly Woman just does not sound that great, so I am definitely open for suggestions. Posted by Picasa

One year older!

So...this was the first birthday that when I blew out the candles that one actually fell over! I was just glad the flame went out before it fell over on our coffee table. 'A' made banana nut bread for my bday and we all shared it! It was nice. I had a great day! Posted by Picasa

First Bday in Africa!!

I had an excellent Birthday, we hung out at our house, played Hoopla and watched, Without a Trace! Man it was fun. Are these candles not huge?? J got them when we were in our first country. J and A gave me the Golden Grahams...they are excellent!! J and I made overnight French toast and it got a little crispy (ok burnt) on the bottom, but it was still really good. The flyswater has come in really handy as well...it has been an awesome gift. Posted by Picasa

Hola...we are senoritas!

Here we are...making our wonderful homemade tortillas! We are getting pretty good at it, and I can even flip them without dropping them on the ground now...man when we get back we might have to open a Mexican food restraunt! We have to sift our flour to get the bugs out...I have never had to do that before so it has been a fun new thing to do. Making tortillas is even a stress reliever and J and I like making them. THE AFRICA "KNOWS"...

Previous Country:

You walk outside and the guard has given the dog a goat head to play with!

When you have to be careful to flush the toilet because after one flush you have to wait 30 minutes to flush it again.

It takes the whole day to buy groceries because there is not just one place that has everything you need, you have to go to multiple shops.

Worms become so much more than just those things you use for bait at the lake with your Dad…they get inside you!

You get called a senorita and asked if you are from Mexico!

The taxi you are riding in runs out of gas on a busy capital city and the money man reaches under the back seat of the van and pulls out a water bottle filled with gas to refill the van.

If it makes sense to you (in anything) you are probably wrong. Do the things that don’t make sense and you are right.

New Country:
You learn to fill up buckets of water when you are able to get it because you might not get running water in your house for days at a time.

It rains one random day in the desert and you have to put buckets on your bed because the roof is leaking.

Men wear skirts.

You put on pants, socks and a long sleeve shirt at night to try and prevent the mosquitoes from biting you.

You get really good at catching mosquitoes in the air with one hand, or the two-handed clap method.

You play UNO in your new language to practice your colors and numbers. (That was fun!)

You take a shower at 1:30am…because their actually IS water!

If you say you are engaged…it translates as… “Someone else already wants me!”
